Quick start for managers
Setting up Sunny Workplace® as a manager takes a few minutes: create your account, walk through a short guided setup, invite your team, and connect Slack or Microsoft Teams. From there, your home page tells you what to do next.
Before you start
You’ll move faster with three things on hand:
- The work email you use with Google or Microsoft (Sunny signs you in with one of those, no new password needed).
- Your team members’ work email addresses, and a rough headcount of your direct reports.
- A payment card, if your company signed up self-serve. Managers at enterprise organizations won’t be asked for payment.
Step 1: create your account
Go to the signup page and continue with Google or Microsoft. If your company already uses Sunny, you’ll be matched to your organization automatically through your invite link or work email domain. If you’re the first person from your company, you’ll create your organization here and become its first Org Admin.
Details: “Signing in with Google or Microsoft” and “Joining the right organization.”
Step 2: follow the guided setup
Sunny walks you through setup one step at a time:
- Add you team details: Team name, team size, and what day you want to receive notifications from Sunny.
- Connect Slack or Teams. Optional, but highly recommended.
- Complete checkout (self-serve only). Enterprise managers won’t see this step; payment is handled through your contract.
Details: “What is the Social Battery® assessment?” and “Understanding your Energy Profile results.”
Step 3: invite your team
From your results page, select Get started and Sunny walks you through setup one step at a time:
- Grab your invite link and send it to your team. Your Team Vitals™, summaries, and weekly recommendations all depend on teammates checking in and completing the Midweek Check-in, so invite your team as early as you can. A short heads-up message from you noticeably boosts participation; there’s a pre-written one you can copy.
- Sunny needs at least 40% of your team signed up before it stops reminding you about this, and at least half of your team responding to the Pulse Check each week before your personalized recommendations begin.
Step 4: connect Slack or Microsoft Teams
If skipped during onboarding, you can still connect from within the application. Connecting your workspace is the last onboarding step. With Slack or Teams connected, check-ins, Pulse Checks, summaries, and recommendations reach you and your team where you already work. If you’re not the workspace admin, Sunny can send your IT team a pre-filled install request. Teams without Slack or Teams get everything via email and the web app instead.
Step 5: start from your home page
Once setup is done, your home page shows a stack of cards with your single best next action. You don’t need to go looking for anything; if a card is there, it’s the most useful thing to do right now.
In your first days you’ll see:
- Take your Social Battery® assessment. A ten-minute assessment that Sunny uses to personalize your experience. It’s on the home page rather than in setup so you can do it when you have the time.
- Connect Slack or Teams, if you skipped it during setup.
- Onboard your team, until at least 40% of your team has joined.
- Your first Team Experience. Sunny starts you with a curated sequence: a short boost (“Getting Started”), then a workshop (“Energizing Our Work”) to run in your team meeting, then two more boosts spaced about a week apart. These give you and your team a feel for the format before personalized recommendations begin.
Cards you don’t act on quietly move to the back of the stack and eventually expire. Nothing blocks you; completing, dismissing, or ignoring a card all move you forward.
What happens next
Once your team joins, Sunny settles into a light weekly rhythm:
- Monday: everyone gets a quick Weekly Kickoff nudge at 10am local time.
- Tuesday: everyone receives a team check-in summary, based on their responses from Monday.
- Wednesday: your team gets the weekly Midweek Check-in, which powers your Team Vitals™.
- Friday: your digest arrives with the week’s Team Vitals and a “Review your Pulse data” card on your home page.
After three weeks of your team completing the Pulse Check, Sunny hands you off to personalized recommendations: a “Team Vitals” workshop to run with your team, then one Team Experience per week, chosen for your team’s lowest vital sign and delivered before your team meeting on your chosen day. Until your team gets there, Sunny keeps suggesting a weekly experience so you always have something to run.
Notifications stay light: a welcome message, a handful of one-time nudges if a card sits untouched, and up to three reminders to onboard your team. Managers who keep up get almost none.
